    Excellent soldering on conductive copper ink demonstrated by the formation of an IMC (InterMetallic Compound) layer

    Excellent soldering on conductive copper ink demonstrated by the formation of an IMC (InterMetallic Compound) layer

    Additive Manufacturing of Electronics requires good soldering and is enabled with Copprint’s conductive copper inks, as demonstrated by the formation of an IMC layer (Inter Metallic Compound). This layer is formed during reflow between the solder alloy and printed conductive copper paste and is the index of good soldering (see explanation here ).

     

    Full process details:

    1. Print copper traces on FR4 substrate with Copprint copper pastes.
    2. Soldering process – can be done even one week after sintering.
      1. Print off-the-shelf solder paste. (The most recommended paste is Henkel Loctite LF-318).
      2. Component placement.
      3. Standard reflow process.

    Die shear tests after the process indicated >3Kgf for 1206 SMD resistor soldered on Copprint’s LF360 with SAC305 Loctite LF-318.

     

    We are excited to announce two new top-performing nano-copper paste: LF-371 for thick printing on multiple substrates such as FR4, Glass, Alumina, Aluminum, Ceramics. LF-390 for printing on Polyimide (PI). Best conductivity among conductive pastes and best price/performance.

    In the global fight against Covid19, copper is proven to be effective in killing viruses. Nano Copper has a high surface area relative to volume and high effectiveness per weight, delivering the most effective protection against viruses and bacteria. Even bacteria spores, which are known to be highly resilient, are destroyed by a small amount of Nano Copper additive 1000X more than standard copper.

     

     

    Copprint’s nano and sub-micron copper are dispersed in various solvents or water, enabling fast integration, due to the high dispersibility, into many processes and products. By adding just one percent of Copprint Nano Copper to standard paint, powerful anti-microbial and anti-viral performance is observed.  Copprint’s Nano Copper can be used as an additive for injection molding, paints, textile impregnation processes, 3D printing materials, ink jetting and more.
